New Appearance   -  October 12, 2002

In the last week I had been working on some updates for this site especially regarding to the layout. The main-picture for instance has been changed. I think this new one represents the subject of my site a lot better then the old one. Instead of the relaxing seaside, which you saw before, I put some civil engineering related images into it. With the changing of this main-picture, I also had to modify the left navigation bar so it matches with the main picture.

Another thing that changed, is the menu system. Not only are the colors and font size different, but in fact it is a whole new script. With this new script I have a lot more possibilities to change colors, texts, font etcetera in future layout changes. And besides that this script is faster and compatible with more internet browsers.

Minor Updates   -  September 5, 2002

In the last few days many little bugs have been fixed; the search page for instance, which always linked to the wrong page. Also some minor programming has been done to reduce the loading time of this site. But you're right when you say that there wasn't really a big update, like the promised article about the empire state building. This can be attributed to all these minor updates like the new column (woohoo), the updated header image and the adjustment of the webcolors.

Nevertheless I can tell you that the promised article about the empire state building has almost been finished. I'm busy correcting the last typing errors right now, and searching for some nice pictures to brighten up the lap of text. This building will be the first in the new skyscrapers section, other tall buildings like the petronas towers, the chrysler building and the sears tower will follow.

Besides that, a new article about the golden gate bridge in San Francisco is coming up. Actually a whole bridge-section is taking shape; the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan bridge will join the golden gate bridge as well.

SSI Installed   -  August 14, 2002

Today I included SSI into my website. That's why all the .html extensions have been changed to .shtml. The big advantage of this SSI is that the bar you see at the left can be seen from anywhere on my website. And If I change anything on that bar, I just have to change it once, and not on all the other pages, which would be a time consuming process.

One thing that will be added very shortly on the left navigation bar is a "quick link" table. This table will hold all the main construction links and possibly also a search function. To make place for this the headlines table will disappear, as this probably doesn't add that much to the content of this website.

Site History Published   -  August 2, 2002

A whole new section has been opened for the world today; namely the history of this site. Since there is not so much of a long history right now, the page tells you more about the development process of this website. It tells you about the things that preceded the realization of this website, and how all the different development schemes and plans came to together to form this connected site. So if you are interested in the history of this website, go take a look!

New Layout Released   -  August 1, 2002

This site has had a complete make-over in the last few days (weeks). I have tried to use some more colors at this site, mainly because the problem with the last color scheme was that there was just one major color namely blue. And because of that the site looked at bit monotonous. But with the new fresh sea blue colors and the added sand color, the site breathes out a relaxing Caribbean sphere :)

Beside the new colors the main page underwent some other changes: A new sidebar has been added, which you see at the left of this site. That bar contains two tables, whereof the first shows the news headlines. All the site changes will be announced there. As well the small changes, which won't be announced here.

The second table shows and links to some interesting articles that has just been released or other fascinating things. The announcements at this table will be shown somewhat longer then the other news.

Another thing that changed is this news column, no so much the layout of it, but more what comes in it. Primarily the major site changes will be announced here (like a completely new layout, a new article or another new section), further civil engineering related news will be placed at this column.
